The brief for this project was to design a system that supports public welfare or serves underprivileged or at-risk communities.

SOLUTION

Combating food insecurity among children with a new donation system.

In partnership with Woolworths, shoppers at the supermarket checkout can choose to pay for items on a child’s personalised grocery list, items their caregivers cannot afford. The system is convenient and non-coercive, removing the need for separate trips or determining which items are most needed.

Each list is tailored to the recipient, taking into account allergies or dietary restrictions the child may have. Caregivers collect their donations anonymously via Woolworths' Click & Collect e-lockers. The design targets Gen X parents, with the goal of making donation a normal part of the checkout experience.
